AGH UST develops information system supporting decisions of emergency services dispatchers

Scientists and researchers from the AGH UST Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection have developed the first Polish geoinformation system, commissioned the Małopolska Voivodeship Office. The main developer of the application is professor Adam Piórkowski.   

 

Scientists and researchers from the Department of Geoinformatics and Applied Computer Science have developed an applications which aims to visualise the positions of ambulances in the Krakow area and the entire Małopolska region. The tool makes it possible to specify the area in which there is a risk of an ambulance reaching a desired destination in a time longer than determined by the law. Additionally, the main aim of the application, which takes advantage of geoinformation technologies, is the simulation of arrival times for the purpose of planning the location and distribution of emergency teams, thus minimising the number of destinations which can be reached by an ambulance in a time longer than determined by the law. 

  

Moreover, the system can be helpful in planning the location and distribution of ambulances and medical services in emergency situations and during mass events, for example, during World Youth Day in Krakow.
