Three Pro Juvenes statuettes for AGH UST student teams

In this year’s competition Pro Juvenes, three student teams from AGH UST were awarded prizes – they were AGH UST Media Centre, AGH UST Solar Boat, and AGH UST E-Moto.    

The students won statuettes in three different categories:  

• student media – AGH UST Media Centre,  
• student initiative – AGH UST Solar Boat Team,  
• student project of the year – AGH UST E-Moto. 

The competition jury also awarded prizes in the following categories: student festival Juvenalia, student culture, student sport, studies without barriers, student innovation, young scientist, student sportsperson, and student artistic personality.  

The competition “Pro Juvenes” is organised by the Parliament of Students of the Republic of Poland, and its aim is the promotion of active students and their initiatives, as well as emphasising the merit of student-friendly individuals and entities that support the potential of young people. 

AGH UST Media Centre – a unique media project comprising four organisations: Student Radio17, AGH UST Student Newsletter, television and production studio AGH UST MINE TV, and AGH UST Krakow Student Photo Agency. The primary aim of the Media Centre is to awaken students’ interest with regard to the theoretical and practical aspects of mass media. 

AGH UST Solar Boat Team – the flagship project of the team is building a solar boat. The project is carried out by an interdisciplinary team being a result of a merger of two organisations – the Student Special Interest Group “Eko-Energia” at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels, and the AGH UST Academic Sailing Club. The constructors of the boat combine their sailing passion with the scientific passion for using alternative sources of energy. The students have represented AGH UST at the prestigious international competition Monaco Solar Boat Challenge. 

AGH UST E-Moto – a group of enthusiasts building a motorbike with electric drive. The team is composed of three special interest groups. The project is coordinated by the Student Special Interest Group of Mechanical Engineers at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, which is responsible for the mechanical parts, as well as the structure and power transmission. The Student Special Interest Group “Hydrogenium” at the Faculty of Energy and Fuels takes care of the power supply system, and the Student Special Interest Group “Spectrum” at the Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications is in charge of telecommunications. The team has already had notable success in the competition Smartmoto Challenge in Barcelona.
