Three medals won by AGH Students in Vienna RobotChallenge

Students of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow have won three medals at the largest and most prestigious international championship for self-made, autonomous, and mobile robots - RobotChallenge in Vienna which ended last weekend.

 

For several years, AGH students have won the Vienna competition. This year, they participated in a number of contests, including "the mini sumo" (wrestling robots on the mat ) or "the line follower" (a race of robots that are tracking a black line). In the first category, where the maximum weight of the robot is 500 grams and its maximum dimensions are 10 × 10 cm, the AGH students dominated the challenge and won the gold (robot "Storm II") and bronze (robot "Storm I") medal. It has been achieved by two engineers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, who are the members of the"Controllers" Student Special Interest Group - Konrad Stefański and Łukasz Sarzyński.

 

Another bronze medal has been won by students belonging to the Student Special Interest Group "Integra" - Adam Fleszar and Jarosław Korus - from The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering, whose robot " Thunderbolt " was one of the fastest robots of the tournament.

 

This year’s tournament was attended by over 500 engineers from 40 countries. Once again, the history has repeated itself and the RobotChallenge medal count has been dominated by the Polish, who have won four gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals. It is worth mentioning that Poland has proved to be the best for the fourth time in a row. In addition to numerous European teams, ours participants this year have outscored the representatives from Japan, Brazil, Canada, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, India and the United States.
