Diamond Grant for four AGH UST students

Four female students of the AGH University of Science and Technology became laureates of the 5th competition “Diamond Grant” – one of the most prestigious programmes of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for outstanding students and young researchers.

A maximum amount of financing in the category “exact sciences”, i.e. PLN 220,000, was granted to Weronika Zubrzycka of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering. The research area of the scholarship holder covers “Low-noise integrated circuits with fast digital interface for radiation imaging”.

The other three laurates are students of the Faculty of Energy and Fuels:

  • Katarzyna Walczak – carries out a project entitled “Polyanionic cathode materials of olivine and NASICON structure for sodium cells Na-ion” (PLN 216,889);
  • Katarzyna Polak – conducts research on “Hybrid cathode materials for Li-ion cells of high energy density” (PLN 209,109);
  • Anna Olszewska – deals with “Correlation between crystalline structure and transportation properties in layered perovskites LnBaCo2-xMnxO5+δ oxidized electrochemically” (PLN 199,776).

Diamond Grant has been awarded since 2012. Every year, outstanding students of long-cycle master programmes or graduates of first-cycle (undergraduate) studies who conduct scientific research of high standards and have above-average scientific achievements can apply for financing their own projects. 277 applications were examined in the 5th competition, of which 83 were chosen for financing. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has allocated nearly 16 million zloty for scholarships.
