AGH UST comes first in “Webometrics” among Polish technical universities

In the latest edition of the “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2015”, which includes 12,000 universities from around the world, AGH UST again took first place among Polish technical universities.

It is also worth mentioning that AGH UST was ranked third among all Polish colleges and universities.

“The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” is prepared by the Supreme Council for Scientific Research in Madrid (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas). This largest ranking of universities according to their academic level is updated every six months. “Webometrics” differs slightly from standard rankings evaluating the scientific level of individual academic units, since its main criterion is the assessment of the universities’ communication via the Internet.

The network indicators used in the ranking are based on and correlated with traditional sciento- and bibliometric indicators. The ranking measures the volume, visibility and impact of university websites, with particular attention paid to the scientific achievements of employees (references to publications, presentations at conferences, monographs and reports) The ranking also includes other information, such as materials from classes, seminars and workshops, digital libraries, databases, multimedia, personal websites. “Webometrics” also takes into account the general information concerning each university, its departments and research groups.
