Research Centre for Acoustic Engineering opened

In January 2012, professor Antoni Tajduś, AGH UST Rector, on application of Janusz Kowal, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, established the Research Centre for Acoustic Engineering. The Research Centre for Acoustic Engineering is an initiative of 10 AGH UST units interested in conducting research into acoustics.

The main tasks of the Research Centre for Acoustic Engineering is the analysis and studies which will determine the development trends of acoustic engineering in Poland and Europe, working on the projects of theoretical and practical solutions within the scope of acoustic engineering, presenting the results of research projects carried out at AGH UST within the scope of acoustic engineering, promoting new transdisciplinary and multidisciplinary development trends of acoustic engineering, promoting AGH UST activity within the scope of acoustic engineering, as well as collaboration within the framework of interdisciplinary consortia and the coordination of their projects.

The Department of Mechanics and Vibroacoustics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, as a leading unit in the field of acoustic engineering, has at its disposal unique equipment and laboratories which will serve joint research projects. The activity of the Research Centre for Acoustic Engineering will also make it easier to obtain funding for the development and maintenance of expensive equipment. Professor Wojciech Batko has been entrusted with the role of the head of the new unit.
