Mining festivities of St Barbara’s Day

The mining festival of St Barbara's Day, the so-called Barbórka, which takes place at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, has always been a celebration day for all miners and AGH UST sympathisers. It has deeply entered not only the traditions of the university, where it is an official holiday, but it is also an important cultural event for the city of Krakow.

Mining festivities of St Barbara’s Day

This year's festivities at the AGH University of Science and Technology will begin on 4th December with a ceremonial Parade of "Foxes", which will lead the AGH UST procession through the centre of Krakow to St Anna's Collegiate Church, where a high mass on the occasion of St Barbara's Day will be held for all miners from the Małopolska region. The main events will take place between 6th and 7th December, 2012.

Barbórka at AGH UST cannot happen without our students, graduates, and faithful friends. So already today, we are addressing all of you with a cordial invitation: "Meet us at AGH UST!"
